Come join instructor, Kylie Bartman, to learn how to make your own natural soaps at home.
Date: Sunday, October 27th @ 1 p.m.
Where: Lazuli Farms farm store & soap studio @ 20256 Township Road 484 in Camrose County (Google Directions here)
You'll learn how to create your own soap using all-natural ingredients with a touch of your own creativity to customize the colour & scent of your soap with botanicals, clays, and pure essential oils.
In this class you'll come away with the knowledge to create your own soap at home including the following:
- safely using lye
- step by step instructions for cold process soap-making
- properties of the fats, oils, and butters used
- how to cut & cure soap
- how to create essential oil blends for scenting your soap
You'll take home a 2 pound block or soap to complete the curing & cutting process at home plus your own soap mold (wood with silicone liner). That's equivalent to 10 of the Lazuli Farms soap bars ($100 value) plus the soap mold ($17 value). You also get an extensive Guidebook on Cold Process Soap-Making ($19 value) complete with a lard or tallow-based soap recipe and a plant-based soap recipe, and 8 options for essential oil scent blends for your soap bars. Both recipes create gentle, nourishing, all-natural, and long-lasting soap bars that your whole family will love.
Class length: 2.5 to 3 hours
What to wear: You must wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed toe shoes since we will be working with lye. You may get product/materials on your clothes so wear something that you don't mind getting spilled on. Wear comfortable shoes since you'll be standing on cement while making your soap.
