Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups {Oh my}

You know when you're craving a chocolate bar after a delicious supper?

Well, this recipe is just the ticket for that craving!  With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time (time enough to tidy up the kitchen after supper!), you'll have homemade peanut butter cups ready for that sweet finish!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups {Oh My!} Recipe


  • 1 3/4 cups milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/8 cup butter
  • 6 tablespoons icing sugar


Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.

Melt half of the chocolate chips in a glass bowl in the microwave by microwaving for 30 seconds, stirring, then another 30 seconds and stirring.  It will take approximately 60 to 90 seconds to melt the chocolate chips enough to completely stir them into a soft mixture.  You could also use a double boiler over the stove if you prefer.  Scoop the chocolate into the 12 muffin tins (approximately 1 tablespoon into each cup).  Bang the muffin tin on the counter to help the chocolate to distribute across the bottom of the cup.  Tuck the muffin tin into the freezer for 10 minutes while you prepare the peanut butter layer next.

In a bowl, mix together peanut butter, butter, and icing sugar.  If needed, microwave for 15 to 30 seconds to melt the butters enough to mix together well.  Add approximately 1.5 tablespoons to each muffin tin and bang the tin on the counter to flatten out this layer.  Tuck the muffin tin into the freezer for 10 minutes.

Melt the second half of the chocolate chips in the microwave following the same method above.  Distribute the chocolate evenly between the 12 muffins tins.  This is approximately 1 tablespoon of chocolate into each cup.  Bang the muffin tin to evenly spread the chocolate over the peanut butter layer.  Tuck in the fridge of freezer to cool before eating.  Peel off the muffin wrapper & enjoy!

Store in the fridge for a crunchier peanut butter cup!
