Naturally raised Alberta beef from the farm.  Your beef is grass-fed with a barley finish and the beef is dry aged for approximately 21 days for maximum flavour profile.

A half beef from Lazuli Farms will fill your freezer with naturally raised, quality beef.  No need to run to the grocery store for beef anymore!  Feel confident in the premium quality of the beef you serve to your family.

How much beef will I get?

Approximately 200 lbs of beef.

The final weight of your beef selections in the freezer will vary depending on the size of the animal and the cuts that you choose from the butcher. 

How much room will this take up in my freezer?

This will take up approximately 8 to 10 cubic feet in your freezer. 

A full size chest freezer is usually around 18 cubic feet so your half beef will fill up half the freezer.  A small chest freezer is usually around 10 cubic feet so the half beef will fill the whole freezer.

How long will this feed me and my household?

Family of Four = Six month Supply

Family or Two = One Year Supply
{Eating beef 7 days a week}

A beef order of 200 lbs will feed a family of four for approximately 160 to 175 meals - that's enough beef to eat three delicious beef based meals each week for a year!

For a household of two people, 200 lbs of beef will provide at least 400 meals!  That's daily beef for a full year!

What is the total cost of my half beef?

Approximately $1650 (beef only) + $450 (cutting & wrapping) = $2100 total

Your actual cost for the beef is $4.75 per pound based on the hanging weight of the half beef at the butcher. 

Hanging weight is approximately 350 lbs for a half beef (varies from 300 to 400 lbs).  You end up with 60% of this weight depending on the cuts your select (for example, boneless versus bone-in selections, keeping organs and soap bones, etc.).

You will choose your cuts from the butcher.  Cutting & wrapping fees will be paid directly to the butcher.  Cost for cutting & wrapping a half beef is approximately $400 to $600 depending on the additional processing you choose (sausage, pepperoni, burger patties, hotdogs, jerky). 

(Cutting & wrapping costs are paid directly to the butcher at the time of pickup.)

What is the cost per pound?

Approximately $11/lb for all your selections.

Let's compare that to the grocery store.  Lean ground beef can cost $9/lb.  Tenderloin steak is around $30/lb.  Ribeye is around $20/lb.  T-bone is around $17/lb.  Stew beef is around $10/lb.  A sirloin tip roast costs $12/lb.  If you average this out, you are likely going to be around $14/lb for all cuts of meat from the grocery store. 

Comparatively, buying beef in bulk from the farm can save a family of four at least $600 per year.

How do I pick up my half beef?

Your half beef can be picked up directly from the butcher (Forestburg Meats) or from the farm at no charge.  Delivery is available at $100 to most areas.
